Sunday 13 April: Gifu Human Rights Organisation's annual publication party. My dad making an opening speech before the 11-course dinner.

Marinated prawns & greater amberjack, sea bream with salmon roe, etc.

More fishy nibbles.

UsaKousa go wild atop a box of fresh local strawberries.
Monday 14 April: Dinner at Nomura. Udo plant stalks - just in season - cut into sticks, with miso & spring onion dip. Yumeee!

Another seasonal veg: a whole bamboo shoot sliced in two and grilled. Tastes like sweetcorn and delicious.

I eat up all the edible bits on outer layers too (artichoke style), until only the hard skins are left :-)

Tuesday 15 April: My shopping today: bunny-shaped paper clips.

Crab legs (and other goodies) for dinner.
Friday 18 April: A day's outing with Ichiro & Atsuko, to Tajimi, a little town traditionally known for its ceramics. We have a look at various museums and collections, including the Sake Cup Art Museum! We have lunch at a pizza restaurant next door, where dishes are served on plates sold in the museum shop.
A big dinner back in Gifu. Delivery sushi & sashimi, plus tempura and other delicacies prepared by Ichiro's mum.

On the way home, we've picked up 5 different kinds of sake :-)

Tempura of spring vegetables - bonito (in the middle) is also in season.
We spend no less than 6 hours drinking, eating and chatting!
Many thanks to Ichiro and his family - for the trip, the food & the good company, as well as for the beautiful sake cup he's bought me as a present.
