Monday, 1 December: A quick walk to the sea, as the sky is reasonably clear and Yoko Ono's Imagine Peace Tower is clearly visible from my flat on the other side of the town. But no, it gets mistier by the time I get to the sea, and you really do need a big tripod to take any decent photos of the thing unless the sky is absolutely clear. Oh well. At least I found this lost glove on the main road by the sea (for Jez :-)
Thursday, 11 December: A stormy evening, with extreme winds and snow/sleet/rain. One great Icelandic invention (or perhaps not??): these boards are fixed to the base with springs, so when it's windy, they just bend and dance like mad - instead of being blown off. How practical! (And sorry I couldn't take any photos of them in action - it was difficult to stand still when the strong wind hit!)

Drinks at Grétar & Óskars a little later. They have a nice collection of ducks in their bathroom :-)

G & Ó dressed up to take their dog, Tira, for a walk in this typical Icelandic weather. (Apologies for the very blurry photo!)
Friday, 12 December: the storm stopped by midnight, and then it started to rain... it's all white in the morning. I go for a little walk down to the sea, about 5 minutes from our flat (on the south side of the city.)

All white by the sea...

A sign post that's obviously blown down in last night's storm.

A nice contrast of light and dark.

Funny clouds - some kind of birds with mohican hair?

The pond downtown is covered in snow too.

Lots of geese walking along the pavements by the pond.

On the northern coast: big sun in the south, big moon in the north. Sorry the photo is not very clear - the snow on the mountain and the sky tend to merge...

Those luxury apartment blocks: contrary to what I reported last time, the construction *is* carrying on. (They'll have to sell them to some rich foreigners.)

Moon behind clouds, spotted between those blocks.

Closer.
Later on, on my way to the local supermarket. The Icelanders really go for the Xmas thing, many windows are filled with all kinds of Xmas lights, and often house exteriors and trees too. (Many of the latter were dancing wildly in the storm last night...)
