Usako & Kousa in South East Asia

May 2002: Usako & Kousa are just back from Bangkok & Singapore, where they saw another couple of Deep Purple shows, went shopping, did some sightseeing, met up with our friends Margaret (from Scotland) & Kikko (from Japan)...

It was UsaKousa's first trip to South East Asia, and although they usually love sunny weather, it was a bit too much even for them in Bangkok. So they stayed in bed while Akiko went swimming in the hotel's outside pool. Still, we've managed to make it to the Grand Palace and Wat Phra Kaeo (the temple attached to the Palace, where the Emerald Buddha is on display) one morning, where these photos were taken - you can see how strong the sunlight was!

After 3 days we flew on to Singapore, where we lounged around in the courtyard bar of the famous Raffles Hotel a lot of the time. Here it was less sunny and a lot cooler than in Bangkok, but extremely humid on the day of the Purple concert. It finally started to sprinkle during the show - lucky we were inside the merchandise tent (where there was even an electric fan above us!) Nevertheless, UsaKousa were drenched in sweat & beer (and wine later on) by the end of the evening :-)

The weather turned suddenly scorchingly hot & sunny the next day. By the time we caught our midnight flight, we were all so exhausted from walking around in the heat during the day, so we slept through most of the 12-hour journey back to Frankfurt (grey and cool) and then back to Berlin (sunny and hot - aaaargh!!)
