Tuesday, 1 December: A sunny morning by the sea.

A big breakfast featuring grilled salted plaice, and a big pot (each!) of miso soup with crab, tofu & veg cooked at the table.

Soon it's lunchtime. Another big nabe with anglerfish, and delicious sole sashimi.

A display of local specialities at the station: a huge knife for cutting soba noodles.
