Part 3: Friday afternoon - up the Swiss Alps!

(Click on the image to enlarge)

We get to the Crans base station for the cable car and find out: we could go one stop up to Merbé for 15 Swiss Francs, two stops to Cry d'Er (2267m) for 20 Francs, or further up to Bella Lui (2543m) for 25 Francs. Being indecisive, we opt for the middle stop, Cry d'Er.

A helicopter bar outside the base station, selling beer and crepes.

Now we're going up the mountain!

And looking up the other way.

Soon after passing the first stop, we realise we're going up into - and beyond - the clouds, so we won't have any clear view all the way down to the bottom of the mountain and the town. Oh well...

So here we are, at 2267 metre high.

UsaKousa enjoying the majestic view.

View from the rooftop of the little cabin restaurant.

Bunnies literally in the snow.

Kousa: God, this is getting to be a hard work for a city girl like me...

Phew. We could do with a bit of a lie-down with friends after all that!
OK, everyone is cold and hungry, so we catch the cable car back down. Oh, first I mustn't forget to take a photo of these animals inside the restaurant here... (right)

When we arrive in Merbé, we notice it's a lot warmer down here. Great, let's take some more photos before lunch!

Below: More icicles hanging from (and snow caught in) the safety net on the edge of the cable car station, above the pedestrian walkway.

"Honestly, sister, why do we have to keep sitting on this cold snow and looking pretty and happy, when we'd kill for a drink?"

OK, OK, we are going inside the restaurant now...

A half bottle of local Fendant white wine, on a paper place mat with the map of the skiing areas.
My mixed salad (left) and minestrone with fresh vegetables (below).
