Sunday, 10 September: It's a grey and cold morning. A couple of us have stayed up until 3:30 drinking - see how much of a dent we've made in the whisky bottle - and are not in the best shape.

The boys go out on a fishing boat trip in the afternoon, but we decide to stay in and take it easy. First a few shots around the lighthouse though.

Grey sea.

John shooting the landscape, for British Satellite News. You can watch his 10 minute-programme on Shetlands here.

We spot a coastguard helicopter, obviously doing some exercise.

You can just about see a man being dropped onto the boat.
In the late afternoon, we cross over to the mainland and drive north to Busta, where we are staying at the historical Busta House Hotel.

The house is haunted by the ghost of an 18th-century maid, whose marriage to the heir of the house was never acknowledged by his parents, and who had her child taken away and herself banished to Lerwick. You can read the history of the house and the ghost on the hotel website.

Another local ale.

A fish-shaped container for peanuts - someone's eaten them all!
After a few drinks in the lounge, we enjoy a fabulous 4-course dinner (very reasonable at 30 pounds a head) and some fine wines. Unfortunately it's too dark in the restaurant for my Sony camcoder, so no photos tonight - but we'll tell you Akiko's selection.

1. Parsnip & chilli soup (just the right amount of chilli, delicious and warming!)
2. Shetland King scallops
3. Grilled Shetland organic salmon set on a bed of cream leeks & coated in a saffron sauce (with chappit potatoes, carrot parcels and sugar snaps on the side)
4. Cranachan (without poo this evening ;-)
